Former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Boston Stock Exchange
Michael J. Curran is an economist and experienced executive in financial markets. He is especially skilled at aligning strategic business and technology initiatives to better serve the investment community.
Mr. Curran has spent the majority of his career in the financial services and investment community, including more than seven years with the Boston Stock Exchange, Inc., where he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. As chairman and CEO, Mr. Curran led the BSE through a period of intense automation of the financial markets and was directly involved with the creation of several market ventures until its merger with the NASDAQ in August of 2008.
Prior to joining the Boston Stock Exchange, Mr. Curran was a Managing Director and COO of International Mutual Funds for Zurich Scudder Investments, Partner with Coopers & Lybrand’s Information Technology Practice and worked with Apollo Computer and Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. He began his career with Electronic Data Systems (EDS).
In addition to his work on the Midwest ISO Board, Mr. Curran serves on a number of NASDAQ regulatory boards, the NASDAQ Clearing Corporation Board and is a member of the Advisory Committee for Cramer Online.
Mr. Curran earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa.
He is chairman of the Board’s Markets Committee and serves on the Corporate Governance & Strategic Planning and Audit & Finance committees. He joined the Board in January 2007.
