Renewable Energy Gateway -
Your source for all things renewable at Midwest ISO

Renewable Energy State Portfolio Standards, Climate Change discussions, an aging transmission infrastructure, and the reliable operation of the bulk electric system – the Midwest ISO is engaged and working on providing equitable solutions to mitigate challenges and take advantage of opportunities presented by the interaction of these items.

The Midwest ISO's footprint includes various renewable fuel sources (see Renewable Energy in the Midwest). It has a high potential for new wind energy construction, as well as an existing base of installed wind generators.  Biomass, or the use of animal waste or plant matter to generate electricity, and hydroelectric, or power from running water and dams, are also present in Midwest ISO's footprint.

The Renewable Energy Gateway serves as the information hub for all the renewable energy challenges and opportunities that the Midwest ISO is currently working on. You can get connected by working on one of the Midwest ISO committees, or by reading up on renewable energy news, transmission planning studies, or the Wind Integration Initiative.

We want to hear from you. If you need more information about renewable energy in the Midwest ISO or would like to request a speaker, please contact us at renewables@midwestiso.org.
